Safety

Those were the days when active life of a man ended with sunset. The daily routines of people were guided by daylight and the nightly darkness hindered the indefatigable human spirit. A ray of hope arrived in the form of a new foreign company, which promised to bring the Electricity to that small town.

The company generated thermal electricity and distributed to the town and other surrounding villages. People of the land liked that company because it made their homes shine with lights. The new plant created lots of jobs and many people were migrated to the town from the neighborhood and from far off places too. They brought their families and friends along with them. These people were playing an important role in the community and the natives respected them well.

The company really cared about their employees.

"Electricity is necessary, but can be hazardous if it is not respected", they said to themselves.

The top executives of the company wanted to avert any such dangers. "We should do some thing to protect people and help them be safe."

First the company got together and made a big list of ways to stay safe. But that wasn't enough. The company was still worried about the safety of their employees.

"How can a list keep them safe?” they said, "We need rules."

Next they made up some new safety rules. But that still wasn't enough.

"How can rules change behavior?" they said. "We must eliminate the risk behavior, if we are to keep people from getting hurt.”

The employees were trained in ways to eliminate those risk behaviors. But they weren't done yet. The company also cared about the employees' families, friends and the whole community itself.

"How can we keep our community safe?” they said. "If we really care about safety, we must share our safety knowledge with our families and friends.”

And so it went. Month after month, year after year, the very special people at this company reached out into the community and taught the importance of safety.

All the while working harder and harder to practice safe behaviors at all times, the people successfully accomplished their goal.

They taught their children how to be safe with the current. They even warned the land scrappers to notify before they dug. And they reminded employees to focus on working safely. Thus they brought the awareness of safety towards electricity in that neighborhood.
